A Speech On Self Confidence - 1070 Words

I was so confident as I awaited in the lobby. Self-confidence has put in and gotten me out of so many situations; Believing the words my parents had always told me â€Å"you can be anything you want to be† always appeared to be the essence of true. â€Å"Jovannie, it’s your turn.† These words caused my heart to begin to beat, my hands to sweat, and the adrenaline to kick into high gear. I was nervous, a feeling I hadn’t recognized. I walked through the dark hallway that seemed to go down for miles to only reach a door with the light begging for an escape. One door – do I open it or leave it closed? I grabbed the cold handle and pushed the door open. The hours that follow after seemed to take what I thought I knew about myself and made it go blank. This is my account of the job interview that prepared me for the challenge of a lifetime. As I walked in with my knees buckling, I gingerly wiped the sweat off my hand; cautiously ensuring no one had noti ced. As I reached out to shake the hand of the first gentlemen I stated my name, age, and the high school I was representing. After doing so, I thought the worst was over until I realized there were eight more individuals still left waiting upon my handshake watching my every move. I repeated the introduction process eight more times; becoming more nervous after the completion of every new employer. By the end of my introduction, I could feel my cheeks beginning to tense up as my smile required every muscle to stay in position.
